Ravindra Jadeja Recalls His Cricketing Journey Between To Mahendra Singhs
Star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja recently shared some interesting insights into his cricketing journey. In an interview ahead of the Indian Premier League 2023, Jadeja revealed how his journey in cricket evolved from wanting to become a fast bowler to being an all-rounder, thanks to guidance from two important persons named Mahendra Singh.
Jadeja said that when he started playing cricket, he aspired to become a fast bowler who could bowl intimidating bouncers. However, he soon realized that he lacked the pace to be a fast bowler. He credited his coach from Jamnagar, Mahendra Singh Chauhan, and his Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni for shaping his cricketing career. Jadeja said, "My cricketing journey has been between two Mahendra Singhs - Mahendra Singh Chauhan, my coach in Jamnagar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, my captain at CSK."
The left-handed batsman and slow left-arm orthodox bowler has been an integral part of the Indian team across formats as well as the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. After undergoing knee surgery and being out of action for a few months, Jadeja made a successful return to international cricket. He shone with both bat and ball in India's Border-Gavaskar series win against Australia and also played a key role in India's win in the first ODI against the same opposition. The talented all-rounder would be keen to continue his good form for CSK in the upcoming IPL 2023 which starts on March 31.
In the same preview show for IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma shared how he did not understand the significance of the bid price he received in the first-ever IPL auction. The star Indian opener, who is set to complete 10 years of captaincy for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023, said, "Firstly, I didn't even know how much $750,000 is. A thing like the auction had never happened to us before and nobody even heard of it. My number came very late in the auction, probably after one and a half hours. After I was sold, I was told that I was getting $750,000, I think it was 3 to 3.5 crore. But I was really happy and thought about which car I should buy. That was the planning I was doing. I was only 20 years old at that time."
